5lbs - Finally!!

5lb weight loss - it's been a bumpy ride!
I'm VERY happy to announce that I have FINALLY (3 months!!!!) reached my 5lb weight loss goal!

Despite the 3-month wait to lose 5lbs, I am very excited about how my body shape has been changing; skirts that were so tight I had trouble doing them up are now fitting loosely, and I can see myself fitting into the next size down in my closet very soon. It helps me to stay motivated, both with my updated eating habits, and with my exercise, although last week's exercise chart does a poor job of showing that.

Actual Activities - C25K - Week 7

At the beginning of this current push to get into shape, I had a high-level plan that involved following several racing plans of different lengths and intensities:

  1. Couch to 5K (I'm calling it at Week 8 - I ran jogged for 28 minutes today, and was bored to tears, so I'm moving on. The last two weeks of the C25K plan just add a couple of minutes to the overall run-time, and the first three weeks of my next program are the same, so I'm moving on.)
  2. Running 5K (10 week program)
  3. Hal Higdon's Novice 5k program (8 week program)
  4. Hal Higdon's Intermediate 5k program twice (8 week program)
  5. Hal Higdon's Novice 8k program twice (8 week program)
  6. Hal Higdon's Intermediate 8k program twice (8 week program)
  7. Hal Higdon's Novice 10k program...

Introduction

Hello, my name is Anna.
My starting point, September 2013

... I'm pretty sure that's how introductions are supposed to go.

This blog is intended to be a log of my journey from fat (current state) to fit (desired future state), ideally by the time I turn 40 so that I can successfully complete a 4- to 7-day hike to Machu Picchu.

A bit of background:

I seem to have been struggling with my weight my entire life, gaining an average of 5-10 lbs a year from the time I was 18 until today (2013 - current age, 36).

I have managed at various times to successfully lose some weight, but have never been able to successfully keep it off, leaving me at 4 years short of 40 with 95 lbs to lose. Given my desire to hike up to Machu Picchu the year I turn 40, this is not an ideal state to be in.

Enough background. On to current events.
